degasification - strippers
Reading time:Of identical design to CO2 eliminators, these degasifiers are used to remove certain gases dissolved in water such as hydrogen sulphide (H2S), ammonia (NH3), volatile organic compounds (VOC) and others, in particular chlorinated solvents.
Another application also exists: the prior oxidation of very highly concentrated dissolved iron (several mg/L) before settling or filtration, using water with a low mineral content, for example, in Africa.
Water and air flow rates will depend on the gas/liquid exchange temperature on the gas(es) to be removed (the Henry constant, initial and final concentration), on packing type and depth.
