Reading time:Chlorine dioxide is an unstable yellow gas that has a sharp odor. In its pure form, it will explode with heat, from exposure to light or from contact with organic matter, releasing chlorine gas. Mixed with air, it becomes explosive when its concentration rises above 10 % by volume.
