the turbactor
Reading time:The Turbactor (figure 5) is a closed flash mixer that does not incorporate any mechanical equipment, that can operate when pressurised and that comprises two sections:
- a zone where vigorous agitation is created by hydraulic means (injector);
- a contact zone that eliminates short-circuits and allows a subsequent reaction to take place.
The Turbactor can be equipped with pH and rH regulators, thus allowing the system to be used not only in coagulation mode but also for neutralisation, oxidation-reduction (e.g. detoxication …)
For these applications, the minimum contact time is two minutes and the velocity gradient approximately 600 s–1. The Turbactor can be constructed of plastic or protected steel.
