on site analysis
Reading time:Some parameters are easily measured on site. In fact, they are likely to change in transit because their preservation is difficult, albeit impossible: pH, temperature, dissolved gases, residual oxygen and, in general, all unstable elements (Fe2+, Mn2+, NH4+…). The most reliable methods used in the field are as follows:
- turbidity;
- potentiometric methods; pH, redox potential, dissolved oxygen;
- colorimetric methods: using colored reagents and a spectrometer (visible light or UV light);
- some volumetric methods that also require suitable glassware and effective cleaning.
